"Peldor Joi" is the traditional saying during the Gratitude Festival on Bajor, a far-flung world in the Alpha Quadrant.  Bajor is known for both its beauty and spirituality, but also its years under Cardassian occupation.  It is a popular travel destination in the Federation and for those looking to visit the Gamma Quadrant through the Celestial Temple (a.k.a. the Wormhole).  And if the Federation had a travel bureau, I imagine they would also need travel posters.  My inspiration was not only the mid-century travel posters of international airlines, but also the shin-hanga woodblock prints of Hiroshi Yoshida and vintage art deco Italian aperitif posters.  Throw that all together with the gorgeous locales imagined by the production department, and you get my painting.

This started as an original ink drawing, then watercolor was added, and after that it was cut and reapplied to a base watercolor "mat" of stripes reminiscent of the colors used on screen.  The image floats on top of the striped mat adding depth and interest.

Remarques available in other sizes upon request.  A remarque is also an original watercolor, but it starts from an archivally printed copy of the original ink drawing, saving time and allowing original art at a more affordable price. Please contact me if you are interested in one for yourself!
